Take 3: Private Pilot and a Professional Career

Whoa there! It’s been a minute… My deepest apologies dear readers, but I’ve been a bit busy with things. Sadly, flying and progressing toward a private pilot’s license isn’t one of them.

I started this journey in September 2018, and have made it approximately half way. Turns out you should really fly at least 3 times a week if you want to stay proficient in the early stages, and I DID NOT DO THAT. So I’ve been stuck in the “learn to land” phase since march 2019. That’s almost a year (I KNOW!). It’s been a tough year. Flying occasionally hasn’t helped, and I’m terrible at time management. It doesn’t help that I’d rather just do my job as a Flight Test Engineer instead of spend my time in an aiplane. (I know, what is wrong with me?!)

So, I’m here to explain what I should do, with the hope that when someone (anyone with an opinion) comments on this post, they’ll have genuine constructive feedback that will kick my ass into gear and help me realize how to do this whole adulting thing.

Without further ado:

  1. I need to find a new instructor. All 3 of mine have left the current school my company is contracted with, and all the instructors thst I knew are also, now, gone. My plan is to go to the owner of the shcool who is currently running the front desk (because aviation schools have a slow season apparently) and I’m going to explain the situation.
  2. Then I’m going to create a daily schedule of what I need to do at work and at home (workout, cook, clean, sleep (on occasion)) and I’M GOING TO GET SHIT DONE. My personal preference has always been to create a TO-DO list with as many expletives as possible to really motivate me.
  3. I’m told it takes 21 days to form a habit. So if I stick to this daily schedule strickly for 1 whole month, it should all be second nature, right? That’s the plan anyway.

Lets see how this goes!

So, feel free to comment, give notes, ask questions… But play nice or I’ll delete your comments and leave you a very strongly worded review with the administrators of WordPress.

Until next time,

@LeaderOfNerds,

Jessica
